چکیده

Semiparametric models are often considered for analyzing longitudinal data for a good balance between flexibility and parsimony. In this paper, we study a class of marginal partially linear quantile models with possibly varying coefficients. The functional coefficients are estimated by basis function approximations. The estimation procedure is easy to implement, and it requires no specification of the error distributions. The asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators are established for the varying coefficients as well as for the constant coefficients. We develop rank score tests for hypotheses on the coefficients, including the hypotheses on the constancy of a subset of the varying coefficients. Hypothesis testing of this type is theoretically challenging, as the dimensions of the parameter spaces under both the null and the alternative hypotheses are growing with the sample size. We assess the finite sample performance of the proposed method by Monte Carlo simulation studies, and demonstrate its value by the analysis of an AIDS data set, where the modeling of quantiles provides more comprehensive information than the usual least squares approach.

A Unified Variable Selection Approach for Varying Coefficient Models

In varying coefficient models, three types of variable selection problems are of practical interests: separation of varying and constant effects, selection of variables with nonzero varying effects, and selection of variables with nonzero constant effects. Existing variable selection methods in the literature often focus on only one of the three types. In this paper, we develop a unified variab...

New Efficient Estimation and Variable Selection Methods for Semiparametric Varying-coefficient Partially Linear Models By

The complexity of semiparametric models poses new challenges to statistical inference and model selection that frequently arise from real applications. In this work, we propose new estimation and variable selection procedures for the semiparametric varying-coefficient partially linear model. We first study quantile regression estimates for the nonparametric varyingcoefficient functions and the ...

Semiparametric Quantile Regression Estimation in Dynamic Models with Partially Varying Coefficients∗

We study quantile regression estimation for dynamic models with partially varying coefficients so that the values of some coefficients may be functions of informative covariates. Estimation of both parametric and nonparametric functional coefficients are proposed. In particular, we propose a three stage semiparametric procedure. Both consistency and asymptotic normality of the proposed estimato...

Sequential change point detection in linear quantile regression models

We develop a method for sequential detection of structural changes in linear quantile regression models. We establish the asymptotic properties of the proposed test statistic, and demonstrate the advantages of the proposed method over existing tests through simulation. © 2015 Elsevier B.V.
